Dr. Finnell is an Army brat raised in Kentucky, Germany, California and Tennessee. She attended the University of Arizona to earn her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry in 1996. Following undergrad studies, she obtained her Optometric Doctor degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2000. Along the way, her externships included Low Vision at Baylor University in Houston, an AIDS clinic in downtown Houston including ocular surgical rotation, and the Indian Health Service at the IHS hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Her first job as an optometrist was at the IHS Globe, AZ location. She worked as a relief doctor around Tucson, AZ and a bit beyond, including Nogales, Sells and Safford before opening her practice in the Civano neighborhood of East Tucson in 2010.
Doctor Finnell is passionate about preventative optometry with a focus on nutrition. Her practice revolves around becoming and staying healthy from the inside out in order to protect the body from disease. As a member of the Ocular Wellness & Nutrition Society, her practice emphasizes nutrition as prevention, and centers on all ocular health especially blepharitis, dry eye and macular degeneration.
She enjoys yoga, reading, history, walking, biking, gardening, English country dance, travel and music.
